Stories of Change

Education success

Transforming Early Education

In the remote village of Oltepesi, Educate Maa launched its mission. It established its first ECDE centre by providing quality desks, chairs, teacher materials and playing items. The ECDE is sheltered in the KAG church of Oltepesi. Enrollment has increased from 26 to 38.

"Before Educate Maa came, our children had to walk 10km to the nearest school. Now they have quality education right in our community," says village elder Mzee Kipeno.

Climate Resilience in Action

In collaboration with other grassroots organizations, we participated in two climate change campaigns. We educated high school students on the importance of climate change action including sustainable tree planting. We also conducted a community based climate change campaign leading to the establishment of a community owned indigenous tree nursery

"The trees we planted three years ago are now providing shade, improving soil quality, and even creating micro-climates that help our crops grow better," explains community environmental champion, Naserian.

Youth Empowerment

We have conducted one virtual career coaching session empowering over 100 youths. We have two youths volunteering with us where we coach them on professional development.

"I never thought I could lead a community project. Now I'm training other youth in sustainable farming techniques," says GenZ, a program participant and now community leader.
